The Second Sunday of End Times:
Last Judgment

November 11, 2007

Prayer:

Lord, when your glory I shall see
And taste your kingdom's pleasure,
Your blood my royal robe shall be,
My joy beyond all measure!
When I appear before your throne,
Your righteousness shall be my crown
With these I need not hide me.
And there in garments richly wrought
As your own bride I shall be brought
To stand in joy beside you.
(Christian Worship 219:1)

God's Word

First Lesson Jeremiah 26:1-1

The Lord calls us to listen to his Word. Without his Word we face eternal loss when Jesus comes. But with his Word living in our hearts, we are ready for Judgment Day.

Psalm 90, p. 99

Number your days aright by living ready for Jesus

Second Lesson 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10

Without faith in Jesus, Judgment Day brings everlasting punishment in hell. But you who believe will marvel at Jesus and glorify him.

Gospel John 19:11-27

In this parable Jesus teaches us about working as his servants until he comes.

Luke 19:1-27

Work the Word

  1. When should we expect glory for following Jesus?
  2. What does the mina represent and what are we to do with it?
  3. What gives us the energy and motivation to work the word?
