P: Yet, dear friends, we cannot know the true joy of Easter unless we first know the depth of our sinfulness. Let us, therefore, confess our sins to God our Father, trusting in our crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ.

C: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice. Let your ear be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness so that you are feared. I wait for the Lord. My soul waits, and in his word I have hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning. Let God's people hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy and with him is full redemption. He shall ransom his people from all their sins. (Based on Psalm 130)

P: The risen Jesus said to his disciples, "Peace be with you! If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven." Therefore I say to each of you: You are forgiven. Be at peace with God. For the Father has raised Jesus from the dead. He has forgiven you for Jesus' sake. In Christ God reconciled the world to himself, so that you may have the peace of forgiveness and the joy of salvation.

P: In the joy of forgiveness let us praise our risen Lord. Alleluia!

First Lesson Jonah 2:2-9

Just as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days, so our Lord was in the grave. But he has risen for our deliverance. Like Jonah we give thanks to our God and praise him.

Hymn 304 (LAPPY) “This Is the Day”

Second Lesson Colossian 3:1-4

Fix your eyes on Jesus. For just as he has risen from the dead, so you, who have died with him, now live.

News and Notes

Youth Group Food Drive: Thank you to all who helped support the youth food drive.

Easter Breakfast: Thank you to the youth group for serving Easter breakfast. Supplemental funds will be provided by Thrivent Financial to help defray costs for youth Christian events.

The God of the Covenant: After Easter we continue the Bible class, “God of the Covenant”. In the Old Testament God revealed himself with a series of wonderful words. Yet it's so easy to pass over these words without experiencing what God wants to give us. Over six weeks we want to come to better understand six of these words and the everyday hope and peace they bring us.

The word for March 30 is יהוה "LORD."

Creeds and Confessions: The Wednesday evening Bible class resumes this week at 7:00pm. We are looking at the Creeds and Confessions that proclaim our faith. We will be looking at Luther's Small Catechism and Large Catechism this week and following weeks. Come and grow in your understanding of what we teach.
