The Third Sunday of End Times:
Saints Triumphant November 16, 2008

November 16, 2008

Prayer:

Lord, when your glory I shall see

And taste your kingdom's pleasure,

Your blood my royal robe shall be,

My joy beyond all measure!

When I appear before your throne,

Your righteousness shall be my crown;

With these I need not hide me.

And there, in garments richly wrought,

As your own bride I shall be brought

To stand in joy beside you. (CW 219:1)

God's Word

First Lesson Isaiah 52:1-6

Don't let the oppression of this world drive you to despair. Rather keep your eyes focused on heaven, awake and watchful.

Psalm 84, p. 96

How wonderful to be with our God in heaven!

Second Lesson 1 Thessalonains 4:13-18

Jesus died and rose. Therefore, when he returns, he will wake the dead. Then we and all believers will be with him forever.

Gospel Matthew 25:1-13

Always be ready for your Savior's return. For he is coming to take us to the heavenly wedding banquet.

Isaiah 52:1-6

Wake Up to See the Lord's Rescue!

  1. For the dusty captivity of this life will disappear
    1. What in this life lulls us into deadly sleep? How does the Lord wake us?
    2. What in this life leaves us in the dust of despair? How does our Lord wake us up?
  2. For the Lord God has freely redeemed you and radiantly clothes you
    1. How can it be that the Lord lifts someone like us out of the dust?
    2. How has he freely redeemed and radiantly clothed you?
    3. What does he want you to know with a heart of faith?
