The Second Sunday in Lent

February 28, 2010

'Tis I, Lord Jesus, I confess,

Who should have borne sin's wages

And lost the peace of heav'nly bliss

Through everlasting ages.

Instead you go

To bear the blow

My punishment to carry.

Your death and blood

Lead me to God;

By grace I there may tarry. (Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal 126:3)

The Second Sunday in Lent

Worship Focus: Jesus' heart longs for you

Order of Worship: Service of the Word, p. 38

Hymns: 106, 434, 417

God's Word

First Lesson: Jeremiah 26:8-15

Jesus' hearts longs for us, so he sends his messengers like Jeremiah to proclaim his word. For through his word he calls to you to bring you close to him.

Psalm 42-43, p. 82

Only Jesus can truly satisfy our longing for God.

Second Lesson: Philippians 3:17-4:1

We eagerly await our Savior.

Gospel: Luke 13:31-35

Jesus' heart ached over those who rejected him to their own lose and damnation. Nevertheless, Jesus was determined to carry out God's saving plan and offer his life at Jerusalem. So much did his heart long for you!

Philippians 3:17-4:1

Church Pictorial Directory: It's been ten years since our last church directory. How families change during that time! So on July 7 and 8 from 4-9pm, a LifeTouch photographer will be here. You are under no obligation to buy pictures. If you simply show up and have your picture taken, you'll receive a free 8x10 and a free church directory. More details will come as the time gets closer.

We are looking for at least 35 families/individuals to participate. You're also welcome to invite families outside the church to make use of this opportunity. They won't be included in the directory, but they will receive a free professional portrait session and a complimentary 8x10 as well as the chance to order additional family pictures.
