The Eighth Sunday after Pentecost
July 18, 2010
Lord, your words are waters living
Where I quench my thirsty needs.
Lord, your words are bread life-giving;
On your words my spirit feeds.
Lord, your words will be my light
Through death's cold and dreary night;
Yes, they are my sword prevailing
And my cup of joy unfailing. (Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal 283:3)

At St. John’s we observe the biblical practice of “close communion,” since the Bible teaches that communing together is an outward sign of the inner closeness of faith that seeks to agree in all that the Bible teaches. Therefore, we ask that only those commune who are confirmed members of our church body and of those churches which have declared fellowship with the WELS. If you have further questions about this, please talk with the pastor.
Quarterly Meeting: The quarterly voters' meeting will be today at 10:00am after the service.
Finances: On June 30 the balance in the General Fund was a deficit of -$1247.55. The offerings for the first two weeks of July have been very low. Take to heart the rich blessings of our God as you plan your giving to the Lord's work. Missions for the first half of the year was $3672.57. This leaves us $1327.25 short of where we should be to meet our mission commitment of $10,000 for the year.
