Confession & Absolution

M: The grace of our Lord (†) Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you.

C: And also with you.

M: In Baptism you were reborn as a child of God. We gather to worship him as his repentant children. Therefore, let us humbly confess our sins and gladly trust his promise of mercy and forgiveness in the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ.

C: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. Hear my plea for mercy. If you kept a record of sin, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that you are feared.

O merciful Father in heaven, I confess to you all my sins, including my failures to do the good you command. Forgive me for slowness in praying for the world-wide spread of the Gospel. Forgive me for coldness in my zeal to share your word with the lost. Forgive me for the shallowness with which I cling to my earthly comforts while billions are lost in the cold darkness of unbelief. Have mercy on me, for Jesus' sake.

M: God the Father has been merciful to you. He gave his only-begotten Son as the sacrifice in our place to pay for all the sins of the world, including all of yours. The promise he made to you at your Baptism still stands: Your sins are washed away. The blood of your crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ, cleanses you. His righteous life clothes you. Believe his promise. Serve him with thankful hearts. Spread his Good News. For in the name of the Father and of the Son (†) and of the Holy Spirit, I forgive you all your sins.

C: Amen.

M: In the peace of forgiveness, we praise our ascended Savior.
