End Times: Saint's Triumphant
November 21, 2010
Lord, when your glory I shall see
And taste your kingdom's pleasures,
Your blood my royal robe shall be,
My joy beyond all measure!
When I appear before your throne,
Your righteousness shall be my crown;
With these I need not hide me.
And there, in garments richly wrought,
As your own bride I shall be brought
To stand in joy beside you. (Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal 219)
Worship Focus: Heaven's joy
Order of Worship: The Common Service, p. 15
Hymns: 728, 207, 551, 219
Personal Preparation for Holy Communion, p. 156
First Lesson: Isaiah 65:17-25
In earthly terms the prophet pictures the joy of heaven that we will enjoy as saints triumphant.
Psalm 150, p. 122
Praise God for the triumph he gives us in Christ.
Second Lesson: Revelation 22:1-5
As his saints we will forever see the light of the face of the Lamb.
Gospel: Luke 20:27-38
In heaven we will be like the angels, no longer suffering and dying.
At St. John’s we observe the biblical practice of “close communion,” since the Bible teaches that communing together is an outward sign of the inner closeness of faith that seeks to agree in all that the Bible teaches. Therefore, we ask that only those commune who are confirmed members of our church body and of those churches which have declared fellowship with the WELS. If you have further questions about this, please talk with the pastor.
