The Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany

I am trusting you, Lord Jesus,
Trusting only you,
Trusting you for full salvation,
Free and true. (Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal 446:1)
Worship Focus: Jesus brings blessing to his people
Order of Worship: The Common Service, p. 15
Hymns: 528, 395, 465, 394
First Lesson: Daniel 3:13-27
Jesus brings blessing to his people even when the outward circumstances of life seem so dire and deadly.
Psalm 1, p. 64
Jesus' blessing comes as we stay away from wickedness and instead take his word to heart day and night.
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
By the world's standards God's people appear so weak and insignificant. But what rices we have in Jesus! He is our wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and redemption.
Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12
Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount. True blessedness comes as we confess our spiritual poverty, mourning over our sins, so that we hunger and thirst for the righteousness that only Jesus can bring.
