Gospel: Matthew 27:27-31

How our King suffered to ransom us to be his people!

Behold Your King and Say ...

  1. How grave my sin!

Lord's Supper

At St. John’s we observe the biblical practice of “close communion,” since the Bible teaches that communing together is an outward sign of the inner closeness of faith that seeks to agree in all that the Bible teaches. Therefore, we ask that only those commune who are confirmed members of our church body and of those churches which have declared fellowship with the WELS. If you have further questions about this, please talk with the pastor.

The council meeting opened with prayer on November 13, 2011. Five members were present. The minutes were read.

The transfer of Kyle Roth from Resurrection (WELS), Verona, WI, was accepted.

Pastor reported on the Sunday school, Reformation service, worship committee, and mentoring program.

The Treasurer reported a balance of $27.72 in the General Fund at the beginning of the month and a large current deficit after the bills for the first half of November had been paid.

The Trustees reported that our current property / liability insurance with Grinnell Mutual is able to be renewed. Since the voters at the last quarterly meeting had authorized the council to decide on the insurance, the council approved renewing the current policy with the addition of insurance to indemnify trustees, officers, and directors.

Four new windows have been installed in the parsonage.

Under new business the council renewed the WELS Connection subscription and the OneLicense policy, which allows us to reprint certain copyrighted material.

A draft of the Child Protection Policy was distributed for the council to look at and comment on at the next meeting.

The council approved Pastor Bitter's request to change the WELS VEBA coverage from Plan 3 to Plan 1 for 2012. There will be no Health Savings Account with Plan 1.

The position of Chairman is up for election at the annual meeting.
