God's Word

First Lesson: Exodus 20:1-17

The Ten Commandments express God's wisdom. But this wisdom cannot save us, since we are law-breakers.

Psalm 25, p. 74

Lift up your soul to the Lord, trusting in Christ's cross.

Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 1:22-25

Only the foolishness of the cross makes us wise for salvation.

Gospel: John 2:13-22

Christ crucified saves because he rose on the third day, just as he had promised.

Psalm 25:1-5. Of David

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.

Show me your says, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. (NIV1984)

Psalm 25:1-5

My Hope Waits for You, O My God

  1. I lift up my soul to you in trust
  2. Teach me your truth, O Savior
