The Lord's Supper
At St. John’s we observe the biblical practice of “close communion,” since the Bible teaches that communing together is an outward sign of the inner closeness of faith that seeks to agree in all that the Bible teaches. Therefore, we ask that only those commune who are confirmed members of our church body and of those churches which have declared fellowship with the WELS. If you have further questions about this, please talk with the pastor.
Lenten Service: This Wednesday Pastor Eugene Andrus from Mt. Olive, Graceville, and Trinity, Johnson, will point us to Christ's cross. We continue the theme: See His Cross! and ponder Jesus' surprising words to the women recorded in Luke 23:26-31. As he was led out to be crucified, he tells these women not to cry. Shed no tears for Jesus!
Council Notes: The council met briefly after church last Sunday (March 11, 2012). Pastor Bitter reported on the E12 -- Easter Outreach program. The postcard invitations should be coming soon. The agenda for the April quarterly voters meeting was discussed. Items include the summer service schedule (last year: Sundays 9:00am, Wednesdays 7:00pm), parsonage windows, and delegate to the District Convention, June 12-14, New Ulm, MN, including possibly a Crow River Conference pre-convention meeting at an earlier date.
The first quarter's voters' meeting will be April 15 after the serivce.
