Christmas Eve Service 6:30pm
Christmas Day Service 10:00am

Job 1:6-22

Persevere in Praising the Lord

  1. He delights in your obedient works
    1. How do the Lord’s words sound as he talks about Job’s obedience?
    2. What accusation does Satan make to show that good works are not as good as they look.
    3. What truths lead us to want to obey our Lord freely and gladly?
  2. His faithful grace is in control
    1. Is saying ,“It could be worse,” a good way to comfort ourselves when things go wrong?
    2. Why is the name “LORD” such a great comfort for us?
    3. What has the Lord’s faithful grace done for you?

The Lord's Supper: At St. John’s we observe the biblical practice of close communion. Communing together is an outward sign of the inner closeness of faith that seeks to agree on all that the Bible teaches. So we ask that only those commune who are confirmed members of churches which have declared fellowship with the WELS. If you have further questions, please talk with the pastor.

C: Move our hearts, dear Jesus, to rejoice in your salvation.

P: The shepherd hurried to see the Savior in the manger and returned glorifying and praising God.

C: Move our hearts, dear Jesus, to rejoice in your salvation.

P: The Good News of Jesus has enlightened our hearts and minds through his word and sacraments.

C: Move our hearts, dear Jesus, to rejoice in your salvation.

Candle Lighting

We light the Shepherd Candle today, the candle of joy. Despite the darkness in our lives the light of Jesus shines into our hearts. His message of forgiveness and life bring us peace and joy. The color pink reminds us of that shepherd’s joy. Through the struggles and successes of life, may we shine out with the joy of Jesus.
