God's Word

First Lesson: Acts 17:1-12

Despite the opposition against the Gospel of Jesus, the Apostle Paul continued to spread the Good News. For Jesus is the only way to the Father. He is the only Savior.

Psalm 33, p. 79

Keep following Jesus and his Word, no matter what the world does. For the Word is powerful and will prevail.

Second Lesson: 1 Peter 2:4-10

Many rejected Jesus, but he alone is the living Stone that brings us life and builds us into the temple of God. Shine out with his Good News so that others too may praise our Father through Jesus.

Gospel: John 14:1-12

No one comes to the Father except through Jesus.

Sermon

John 14:1-6

“I Will Bring You Home”

  1. Jesus will return, just as he promised
  2. Jesus alone is the true way to life with the Father

The Lord’s Supper is a wonderful gift in which we receive Jesus’ own body and blood to forgive our sins and to strengthen us in our faith. It is, however, a gift that is given us with certain responsibilities. The sacrament is intended for those who have been instructed and who understand what they are doing. It is also a way for us to express our unity of faith. Therefore, we ask that only confirmed members of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or other churches of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) come forward to receive Communion. If you would like to become a communicant member of St John’s, or have any questions about this practice, please speak with the pastor after the service.
