The Sixth Sunday of Easter

May 25, 2014

Savior, shine in all your glory On the nations near and far; From the highways and the byways Call them forth, O Morning Star. Guide them whom your grace has chosen Out of Satan’s dreadful thrall To the mansions of your Father—There is room for sinners all. (Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal 577:4)

News and Notes

Summer Schedule: The Sunday morning service is at 9:00am. Starting Monday June 2, St. Paul’s of Morris has a Monday evening service at 7:30pm

Council Meeting: The council met on May 21. The circuit pastor, Michael Neumann, led us in a devotion on Christian living. The love that Christ has shown to us is what moves us to live for him, including our decisions on what we give.

He then shared how the commitments for mission offerings from congregations fell about 5% short of what the synod’s budget called for. In order to stay in budget, the synod would need to cut back starting in July, which is the beginning of their fiscal year. Congregations were encouraged to consider what they could do to help out.

The council decided not to change our current mission offering commitment of $8000. However, the council did approve a special one time gift of $400 from the General Fund to be given to synod over and above our current mission offering to help fund the next fiscal year.
