Worship Focus: Keep watch over each other’s souls

Order of Worship: Handout

Hymns: 304, 308:1-4, 494

First Lesson Ezekiel 33:7-11

How fervently the Lord desires to save the wicked! Our sin rightly earns us death. But the Lord God has called us to turn from sin to him. We too call out to others.

Psalm 51a

God’s mercy in Christ receives a sinner like me.

Second Lesson Romans 13:1-10

God has blessed us with order in society. This gives us the setting to show love to our neighbor. Christian love centers on Christ, sharing the Good News of what he has done for us.

Gospel Matthew 18:15-20

Jesus empowers us to call back the straying Christian.

News and Notes

Baptism: Today we welcome Colin Charles Flaten, the son of Justin and Carrie, into the family of God as he is reborn through the water and word of Baptism. Through this Sacrament, the Lord brings his promises of forgiveness, life, and salvation to Colin as the Holy Spirit kindles faith within his heart. We pray that our Lord keep Colin in the one, true faith throughout his life. The witnesses of the Baptism are Jeff & Christa Flaten and Annie & Matthew Hoepner.

Pastor Conference: Pastor will be attending the Crow River Pastors’ Conference at Christ Lutheran in Baxter, MN, on Monday and Tuesday.

Come Follow Me Bible Class: Would you like an opportunity to think more about the video we saw last week and how it applies to our lives? The Sunday morning Bible class is going through a seven part series based on the video. All our welcome to come.

Come Follow Me Video: At the county fair St. Paul’s and St. John’s gave away about 80 copies of the Come Follow Me video. We still have several copies. Please take one to share with family and friends. You’re welcome to take multiple copies as long as supplies last.

Mission Festival: Mission Festival is scheduled for October 12. Rather than a special speaker, we have a mission video from the WELS and a special order of service to focus our hearts and minds on spreading God’s Word to places we cannot personally go. After the service, we’ll have the annual mission festival potluck.

Invitation: Immanuel Lutheran Church of Willmar, MN, invites us to join them in giving thanks to God as they celebrate 50 years as a congregation. A special anniversary service will be at 4:00pm on Sunday, Oct 5, followed by a baked ham dinner at 5:30pm. A suggested donation for the dinner is $10 per person.

West Regional WELS Choral Festival: This November GPLHS will be hosting the West Regional WELS Choral Festival. We encourage you to mark November 14 and 16 on your calendars. 230 voices from 12 WELS high schools will be attending from schools in Washington and Arizona and Wisconsin and points in between. The festival will include a pops concert at 7:00 pm on Friday, and a sacred concert at 2:30 pm on Sunday. The sacred concert will feature an original work commissioned for this event and composed by former GPLHS music director Tracy (Lemke) Fedke entitled “I Will Glorify Your Name Forever” which is also the festival theme.
