God's Word

First Lesson: Zechariah 9:9, 10

Through the prophet Zechariah, we hear of the unique character of our King. He comes righteous and victorious, yet also humble and lowly. In his victory we have real peace, peace with God.

Psalm 24

Welcome our King!

Second Lesson: Philippians 2:5-11

Our King humbled himself even to death on the cross. Now he reigns over all. When he returns, every knee will bow.

Gospel: Mark 11:1-10

Jesus rides into Jerusalem according to prophecy. He comes to redeem us with his own blood so that we are his purchased people.

Sermon: Mark 11:9

Shout Out: “Blessed Is He!”

  1. Because he came to Jerusalem
to become completely cursed for you
  2. Because he comes to your heart

News and Notes

Quarterly Meeting: The quarterly Voters Meeting will be held April 12, after service. Some of the items on the agenda include summer lawn mowing, residing the south side of the church, and the summer schedule.

Cookbook Meeting: All ladies are invited. We will meet on April 12 after the service to work on the cookbook. The agenda will include: 1) review the formatted recipes and make any changes; 2) look over additional recipes; 3) address a binding for the cookbook; 4) make a decision on which day is best to work on projects; 5) review any helpful hints or quotes.

Medical Fund Raising Benefit: A fund raising benefit will be held at the Covenant Church in Alexandria for Hailey Hoffman from 4:00-8:00pm on April 18.

Hailey is the granddaughter of Gerald and Karen Hoffman and Clarence and Doris Lanus. She is 12 years old and is suffering from a right brain shut down caused by a past car accident. Hailey has had leakage of spinal fluid into the brain which was punctured by a vertebrae. She cannot have surgery to repair this problem until she has had lengthy treatment of biofeedback. She needs to be awake for the surgery so that the correct part of the brain can be repaired.

Any cash donations or any items for the silent auction would be greatly appreciated. Leave any donations with Pastor and arrangements will be made to pick them up prior to the benefit. Please see the flyer that is posted in the narthex and keep Hailey in your prayers.

Recipes Needed: The ladies greatly appreciated the many recipes submitted, but more are still need. They would like at least one recipe from every member, so that all can be represented as part of the cookbook. Do you know former members or relatives of members who have passed away? Let them know we would be happy to include any family recipes from their time as St. John’s. We welcome any favorite recipe, but are especially low on appetizer and salad recipes.

If you have any family history or story to go with your recipes, please share it. Do have any helpful hints or quotes to include? We can use them as well. Any recipe, story, hint, or quote can be submitted to Karen Hoffman or placed in her bulletin box.

Email Announcements: Currently email announcements are sent out to members each Saturday with a schedule for the following week. Also the previous Sunday’s bulletin and sermon are emailed each Monday or Tuesday. If you have not been receiving these emails and would like to, please send your email address to:

Come Follow Me: We have a few more Come Follow Me DVD’s for members to give away. They are on the bench in the narthex. This could make a great Easter gift.

March Ushers: Scott Boettcher (capt.), Ryan Gray, Duane Hausmann, Tom Mohr, Harvey Flaten

March Cleaners: Barry & Sandy Nelson, Chuck & Lisa Nelson
