Lesson: Acts 1:1-11

Jesus has completed his mission on earth. He has suffered, died, and risen to rescue us sinners. Before his return to heaven, he gives his disciples their mission: to be his witnesses as they spread this Good News throughout the world.

Jesus, our God, has ascended amid shouts of joy.

Gospel: Luke 24:44-53

The risen Jesus instructs his disciples. He has fulfilled the Scriptures. Now they are to preach repentance for the forgiveness of sins in his name. Having completed his work, Jesus ascends on high.

Summer Camps:

There’s still room in two summer camps this summer. Information and registration forms are in the narthex. Here’s a summary:

Panther Camp: June 7-12 @ Watertown, SD, for students entering grades 6 through 9.

Luther Camp: June 27-July 2 @ Sibley State Park, New London, MN, for students entering grades 5 through 9.

Great Plains Lutheran Open: The 1st Annual GPL Golf Tournament is June 22 at Watertown, SD. Registration forms are in the narthex.

Graduation Invitation: Abigail and Caleb Bitter will be graduating from GPLHS on Saturday, May 23, at 10:00am. There is plenty of seating available for all who would like to be part of this wonderful day with family, faculty, and friends of the class of 2015. An Open House party will begin at 2:00pm at Veronica’s apartment in Watertown, SD, (1500 3rd Ave SW Apt. #3). All are welcome.

Council Notes: The council meet after service on May 10. They discussed the installation of the communion rail and residing the south side of the church. Duane Hausmann was designated as our delegate to the Crow River Conference delegate meeting on June 9 at St. Paul’s, Morris. MN. It was noted that more donations for the parsonage windows are still needed.

Hymn Survey: As the WELS works on the next hymnal for 2024, the committee would like to know what your favorite hymns are. You may fill in the survey on line at or fill out a paper survey available in the narthex. Please return the paper survey to Pastor Bitter when you are finished. Deadline: May 31.
